Good all-round types for 5.0 SC AutoB

Hi Guys,

Looking for some advice please on a good 60/40 tyre. I dont do much offload, but found the additional rubber and grooves certainly helped during winter. It's been a while since my old Vogue P38a and I take it they call these styres 'All-Season' now but would happily we corrected.

Go 255 55 20 and the higher sidewall will soften the ride.

AT3's are more off road focussed IMHO

I'd be more inclined to go Scoprion Verde as a good all round performer - but it very much depends on your requirements.

There's a lot on here gone with the slightly taller sidewall - so 255 55 20 - which is a standard size for the L405 and a lot of other vehicles, so seems cheaper than most 255 50 20 equivalents.

The same, I've been running the Grabber GT's on my 5.0 S/C, and just had a complete new set a month ago - I really like them.

Not sure I'd describe them as 60/40 though, think they are probably more 80/20, but they have coped perfectly with the light offroading I do, and managed to tow a stuck Transit van out of a very soggy field the other week!

Now I have picked mine up today I had a look at the tyres on.
Conti's 255/50/R20s ...

They don't look to bad but looking at the Grabbers now based on the details in the thread. I'll see how I get on with the current Conti's as not throwing good money away and want to see how they are in the wet and mud before changing Wink

On the L322 the Conti's tend to suffer from the fronts scrubbing the outer edges quite badly IIRC so worth keeping an eye on.

No such issues on the L405

A good compromise is the original scorpion zero. Not the verde.

The verde is an all season tyre, it’s grooves are quite close and it’s got some snow swipes too. It’s a good tyre but in no way Mud/off road biased.

The scorpion zero has a slightly more aggressive tread pattern, there is not much noticeable difference on road to be honest. I’m running both at the mo, had the verde on my 322 and have just swapped them to he D4 and put the zeros on my 323 because they need using up before they go out of date......

The scorpion Zero was the “original” L332 tyre and IMHO is still one of the best all round tyres in 255/50/20. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
