does it shudder in manual mode? mine always was a bit lurch between gears as it aged (185k) but silky smooth in manual never fixed it just used it at that age Current stable:

I've not tried it in Manual mode since I noticed the shudder. I might give it a go.

If the torque converter lock-up clutch is the culprit, then it will sound a bit like driving over a cattle grid during the vibration. If you look closely, you should also see the rev. counter needle wavering a couple of hundred rpm in sympathy with the noise.
