oil in intercooler pipe

just noticed when checking fluid levels this weekend that there was oily deposits around both ends of the pipe that goes from the intercoller pipes (both sides) to the turbo..
is this correct or is the turbo on the way out ???
has anyone else noticed this ??
it's not clear oil but looks like when you have had an engine oil leak and it gets mixed with grime..

if its only a little oil then its probably from the crankcase breather, if it was runny and you had a lot there then it would be worn bearings in the turbo...a little mucky oil deposit is normal.. ... - .- -.

thanks for your reply.....
surprised no one else has put their "penniesworth" in though....
thought it would be of interest to other members as turbo failure (oil seals) is not uncommon on TDI cars and bloody expensive to repair Shocked

well heres my little bit then, i have never seen a td without oil in it intercooler pipes yet and i been a mechanic for 20 years. the breather system vents into the inlet which carrys oil with fumes so it gonna get in there no matter what unless you vent the system, it does build up and cause the intercooler to become Inefficient. there supposed to be cleaned out anualy but no one bothers, if there was a problem with your turbo causing it they tend to run on there own oil and rev there little bits off untill you find a way to stop it or it seizes up when its used all the oil out the sump. take a while using two gallons though.
