Load rating. W109 correct. New tyres with 105 - bad idea?

Hi everyone,
The correct load rating for the 3.6 TDV8 2007 I have is W109 on 20 inch wheels.

I've just been offered a set of brand new continentals for less than £360 but with a 105 load rating.

109 rating is 1030 kg
105 is 920 kg.

Presumably, if i put those on my car I would die ?

Any comments? I don't off road often at all. Do do motorway and some long journeys. Have used the car in Germany where speeds go quite high and that might happen again.

I'm out of work at the moment, and with a service due, and 4 new tyres required, the saving for these is attractive, but I dont want to put anyone at risk.

Would appreciate some advice.
Thanks
Mark

Worst case scenario would be to find your insurance invalid.

Other implications would be to fail your MOT or get a pull from the Traffic Wombles. 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

I wouldn't but I'm sure there are some that would..... I'm a bit of a tyre snob - decent brands only & all 4 the same

They will have weaker sidewalls - and I don't know what effect that has, but I assume the minimum spec is there for a reason - and things go wrong in the blink of an eye.

I'd be nervous & thinking about it every time I got behind the wheel.....

Equally, there are Censored brands that are the right spec that you could get for the same money - but I wouldn't buy those either.

Maybe consider these for the winter & worry about it next year ?

Or just bite the bullet & buy some decent tyres now Smile

Thanks everyone.
I did do some reading around before posting, and came to the same conclusions. However, I thought i would check to see if anyone knew differently.

Bad idea. And thanks to everyone for helping me decide that it is not worth saving a £100 over this.

Alistair thanks for pointing those conti's out. Smile
