Now this may sound a silly question but could it?
I had my gearbox reconditioned but on the way to the garage I had a catastrophic failure of the alternator - resulting in breakdown to garage. They repaired the alternator and then did the gearbox. Been running the gearbox in carefully for 400 miles to date when all of a sudden ‘bong’ followed by ‘hdc inactive’, ‘air suspension inactive’, and occasionally accompanied by abs breaking momentarily on its own. Sometimes it clears after sitting for the night, sometimes it comes on straight away when turning on ignition, sometimes it’s ok for a few miles only coming on after stopping and restarting. Battery (reads 12.4v and 14.4 when engine running) only 4 months old and according to ‘halfrauds’ is ok!! Checked and cleaned wiring to abs ecu and ok. My garage changed yaw sensor, (because diagnostics said so), but still throwing yaw sensor fault. Not replaced abs sensors yet because can’t get them out.
Can’t throw much money at it because just spent £2,600 on gearbox and alternator.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

It could be the steering angle sensor isn't correctly aligned - wheels need to be dead straight ahead when it is aligned/calibrated. In the case where it isn't correctly aligned, steering angle sensor is saying one thing and yaw sensor is saying another which causes an implausibility failure.

Failing that it's likely to be an ABS sensor I'm afraid - diagnostics should be able to identify the culprit.

WRT getting the ABS sensor out, I ended up carefully drilling mine out then cleaning it up before fitting a gen new one (don't bother with non-LR part - you'll only end up doing the job again in a few months time).

Well it looks like I’ve sorted it!!

After much research I finally decided to send off abs ecu and pump for testing. Sure enough the abs module was faulty and after a very efficient repair and return I have refitted it, bled the brakes, and all seems good!!

So - recon gearbox, replaced alternator, repaired abs ecu, and a bank account £2800+ short, I may finally be back on the road. Never spent so much on repairs.

Now I’ve finally fixed the 3 amigos I’m taking it for its first 600 mile check on the gearbox, then there will be a 6 month complete gearbox oil change. Warranty requirements but gives me confidence in them. Current: 2004 Vogue 4.4 V8 - 2004 Discovery 2
