I have two distincly different symptoms that I believe are related to my transmission, one is a low pitched, humming vibration thats very difficult to locate as it only happens while driving, and it fades in and out. At low speeds it feels like it's dragging down the drivetrain a bit, and at high speeds it sounds like wind noise vibrating something like a roof rack except its under the vehicle and I dont have a roof rack, lol. The other symptom is at low speeds, if I have the transmission in normal mode, it seems like its in too high a gear and the vehicle starts jerking and bucking, if I go to sport mode or manual mode and downshift to a lower gear it goes away. I know that quite often a drivability issue such as misfires, which I have also been experiencing, can be mistaken for transmission problems, but this is distinclty different. The misfires have been occurring under load at higher RPM's and immediately trip the service engine light, this transmission issue has never tripped the light or thrown a transmission code. I'm stumped on the vibration and im pretty sure the herky jerky at lower speeds is the 4th or 5th gear clutch packs slipping. I did a transmission service on it when this first appeared but had no effect. There was no metal or debris in the pan or on the magnets. Just some sludge. Any help would be appreciated, this Rover is my 11th Rover but my first L322 and its been a non stop pain in the a**

Some outside-the-box ideas you may have already eliminated; wheel balance, tracking, loose undertrays and heat shields. The undertrays can make a proper noise at certain speeds if they are loose... good luck.

I had what sounded like a wheel bearing starting to go. Local garage put it up on the ramp and tugged all the wheels, nope not that. On test drive they said it was the gearbox.
Gearbox specialist put it on their rolling road and found the rear diff/prop was loose. One rear diff rebuild job done. Easy to check either diff get hold of the prop and if it moves other than rotating it needs doing.

I'd suggest prop shaft out of balance for some reason and gearbox solenoids or other shift/pressure control related components. Previously a 2008MY Tonga Green Vogue SE 3.6 TDV8

Interestingly I had a similar situation - I have done a lot of miles and drive hard - I changed all wheel bearings - the fronts fell out of the hub carrier they were so worn also replaced all drive shafts all this minimised the vibration but didnt get rid of the noise. I also replaced front and rear diffs - noise still there. In the end it was the heat shield rubbing on the prop but only when under load and it didnt always do it so the sound seemed to move around. The reason for this was the centre bearing on the prop was shot replaced the bearing and had the splines reset all good
Might not be the same for you but if you get it in the air and take the trays off and inspect the prop you may be able to see witness marks
