I wouldn't worry too much where they come from, mine were from China...like all the others you will probably look at. I would like to know where JLR got theirs from, because they're obviously Censored Censored ! Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Getting a response from them would be a start. Been trying to get hold of them for an IID tool and no luck, so less inclined to try again at the moment.

As the oem ones are so crap, is it worth just getting some of the same? Or go for an aftermarket set? But then how do know the quality is good? Bit nervous about risking that on wheel nuts! Smile

Just don't let an impact wrench anywhere near the new ones - that's what does them in - the wrench loosens the caps which then fill with water - freeze etc & swell.

That’s a tough ask. So maybe the answer is to Go for a different design?

There's solid stainless ones available at a price.

Whenever mine goes in anywhere, I just tell them not to use an impact wrench and to use a manual torque wrench - they seem fine with it.

It might have been true 20 years ago, don't get foreign 'cos 'British is best', but unfortunately that's not quite the case now. Who knows where JLR got their OEM wheels nut from?
As I said, I got a set that came from China, but does that mean they're no good?

Indeed - they are a thing of beauty, but I've never been able to justify it, though have come close.

I'd definitely have to keep the originals - as the stainless ones would be moved whenever I bought a new car......
