10" Android head unit.

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any experience with this head unit?

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=ht...4256293511

Looks very interesting, but quite expensive..
Also curious to know if it in fact works with all l322 models. 2002 Range Rover Td6

And here's a cheaper alternative for the 2002-2004 models. I guess it should fit even If it doesn't say specifically..

This looks really similar to the units being built for the L405.

I'd dig into this, but looking at the parts list I see MOST plugs and a few other things. The real deciding factor is if it retains all the vehicle integrated features. It claims to support many but hard to say.

Compatibility list shows for MY06-12 which I assume is because those are all MOST based (10-12 are hscan tho).

Following.

Let us know if you pull the trigger and it works as intended.

As above - For the first one, whilst it shows compatibility for all L322's, there is a significant difference between pre 2006 & post 2006 when pretty much everything changed from BMW to Ford electronics.

I don't think there is anything that works across both - so unless they ask which version you have before payment, I wouldn't touch it

The second one looks more promising IMHO - I didn't see L322 compatibility listed, but didn't read it all. Early L322's shared a lot with the X5 though

$1k plus import tax for an android 5.1 unit seems a bit much for an old unit of a no-name brand, especially one they list as being for 2002 - 2012.
Not saying you couldn't get it to work, but at that money I wouldn't want to find out the hard way.

Have you spoken to androidautoshop.com in Norway ? I'm sure they could advise on something E39 BMW based that can work.

I agree. Doubt it works for all model years. Could be that it works with the most system.
My car is a 2002 so I'll be going for a unit compatible for bmw e39/e53. Should be plug and play basically. Found it at the brand's own website for just over 200$, so that is reasonable, I think. No way I'm spending 1000$/€/£ on a Chinese unit Laughing

I'll give an update if I do go ahead with it Very Happy 2002 Range Rover Td6

I think any will work with an 06+ as there is still a very small ibus system up until 2010 (steering controls and clock) so you would be ok there, you need a most converter £100 not too bad but the show stopper for me is losing the RSE if anyone can come up with a solution to this or it be able to be used Independently I’m all ears Current stable:

It looks like this one that I have found a few days ago on Aliexpress right from the manufacturer: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33030950516.html

They claim it supports RSE with zones. CarPlay, Camera, DVB-T2, DAB+, DVR are all optional extras not included in the base price. Can also accept a 3G dongle and provide a car area wifi. I'm not sure if this will fit my 2005 model, as you guys are saying they are different, but mine has a Logic7 processor and MOST bus somehow. What do you think?

This is the most interesting image:

Funny you posted that - I bit the bullet on this yesterday as my last remaining rse screen has died.

I know it’s for the bmw era <05 ff but it only need the ibus signal... which the clock uses and pretty sure the steering uses, hope the steering does or have no idea how to do the volume Laughing

It too claims it does the rear screen BUT I am struggling to find reasonably priced screens. Ali only have 5 inch or 7 inch ours are 6. 5 and 7 are about £20 each - 6 is UK company 150 each so may 3D print a bracket or put the 7 in and lose a tiny bit of screen.

Also ordered the wireless CarPlay for £50 and dab for £30 and the most adapter for £100 - if it all works and I don’t get stung too hard on customs could be a reasonably priced upgrade. Current stable:

I just ordered a similar one as well with carplay, DAB and a DVR camera with something they call ADAS, which is supposed to give you lane departure warning and front collision warning. My expectations for the ADAS are quite low to put it mildly, but will be fun to see Laughing
Will probably take some time till i get it installed, but I'll give an update on it then. 2002 Range Rover Td6

I went for all of that except the ADAS as I thought it would be a load of arse Smile hopefully you will have good results. Yours should be a daily easy fit as it is Bmw based without most bus unlike mine ... did you get the 5m cable? Current stable:

You're probably right about ADAS Laughing
Yes, I got the extension cable as well. Like you said, it should be pretty straight forward to install it. Just a bit time consuming to get the cable all the way from the back to the front. 2002 Range Rover Td6

I’ve done it in my 02 ... twice...

The first time I tried to cut corners and bodged things with the cable routing as a result... ironically it took longer than when I ripped it out and did it again properly. There’s a great thread on here that says exactly what to do in the pre 06s... I however am a lone orangery as I have most and a different bus to contend with 😂 Current stable:
