Next gen Full Fat Pics?

Saw this:
https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/land-rover/r...olls-royce

Think it looks pony, is it just an artists mock up?

Whether that's a mock up or not, the 322's design shook the ground on arrival. But now?

I'm sorry but I just don't buy the McGovern design language; I don't particularly like Evoque's. Fine, I'm not planning to buy one. Plenty of others have and best of luck. But whilst popular, the problem is that was McGovern's project which is what all RR's are based on now.

All I see on Evoques is a headlight that doesn't fit the hole they made. Same with the taillights.

Elsewhere, more that doesn't make sense, for example the 405's tail lights are just confused:
Lone designer: Guys we need to stack the lights, that's a Vogue hallmark.
Gerry: We need to smudge them horizontally into the body like the Evoque.
50 meetings later: we've found a solution that can do both, don't worry.
Lone designer: Errr not sure guys. it looks like an L bracket that hold up shelves.
Gerry: We're doing this, It'll work.

Can't unsee that now, sorry .

The other poorly thought out 'feature' is the trim under the rear tail light:

Gills in the door? Not sure. Maybe, can't make up my mind. Whilst doesn't offend, never made too much sense.
Flicking back that line along the bottom of the doors? Ok sure.
Connecting that to the bottom of the lights? Looks a bit powerpoint to me.

Best way to deal with that whole trim is to colour code it the lot, it's not something to show off.

. Cheers, Greg

We’ll get a lot of misinformation from the likes of AutoExpress now. This is just another of their PhotoShop images, cobbling together bits from images of current cars. They’ve been getting away with this for decades now Sad

Had to do it.

That bit just annoys me.

You produce more convincing looking PhotoShop images than AE’s contributors do Thumbs Up

It looks better without the “shelf brackets”, although I do find the side marker lights on pre 2018 cars useful Very Happy

At best that would be the next facelift - not the the next generation...... It's 95% L405 with a few superficial tweaks

It will supposedly be an "evolution" of the L405 look - so more Velar cues, pop-out handles etc. I expect it to look less like a proper Range Rover - let's hope they've resisted the urge to make the driving position even more car-like.

I’ve never noticed the ‘405 to be ‘car like’, it’s just like my old D4 was. I take it you’re referring to pretty much everything that came after?

Well, there's certainly a change from L322 to L405 - the window line is higher, the screen pillars are a bit more raked, the centre console is a bit higher.

I’ve not sat in one since 2011 when I parked up my Freeloader 2 to drool over one in a showroom!

I’ll need to take a closer look 👀

But you still sit high and very much with your lower legs at a more vertical angle than in a typical car

If anyone feels that the ‘405 feels like it has a car like driving position, may I “recommend” trying one of these?:

Apart from the sheer size and height, the driving position and view out still remind me of driving my old Astramax van in 1986 Laughing

This thread's a bit mixed and I'd like to talk more about the McGovern design direction, so spun off that into here: https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/post534157.html#534157
