Heart wants but head says ask first!

Hello all,

I have been the proud owner of an 07 TDV8 sport since it was 2 years old but now its time for me to move onwards. I am looking towards a L405 SDV8. The thing is, although I love my current car it has cost me an absolute fortune in bills. Just a short list of what has gone wrong with it.

Turbo blew forcing rebuild
numerous air suspension pumps
alternator
various gremlins that took ages to get sorted

This year alone
All new injectors and EGR valves
Head gasket blown
Now gearbox is in for a recondition.

I have always had it serviced using independent specialists and with no warranty I have paid for everything myself. I have never cut corners with parts and always used the best you could get.

I drive the car to Portugal each year and stay here for 6 months, I can't afford for a car to let me down anymore. I intend to buy a used vehicle around a 16 plate from Land Rover themselves through their Approved Used. I've been told by many garages and owners that I am simply unlucky but should I be looking elsewhere? And does anyone have any experience with dealing with Land Rover warranty when in Europe?

Thanks for reading.

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Orkney Grey

i am currently running a 2010 3.6 TDV8 RRS with just over 80k on the clock. It is my first venture into RRS land and i can honestly say it will be my last!!

This car has cost more money and more problems than an FFRR or Classic i have owned, infact it's been the worst Green Oval i have ever had!

I think you will enjoy and get a better experience with any L322 or L405 you buy, of course these cars are not without their problems either! Just trying to give a bit of feedback from my experiences.

Sorry no info on warranty abroad, but any time i've had a car into L/R or an independant garage i've had no real issues.

Hope you find what your looking for.. Thumbs Up Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 Santorini Black

My SDV8 spends 4 months per year in Andorra and 4 in France - the remaining 4 in the UK.

Fortunately, I can’t help on the warranty issue as I’ve not had reason to need it.

Land Rover Assistance does cover Europe - my wife called them when she got a puncture and they very swiftly dispatched a local bloke.

I have 66 plate SDV8 bought from LR approved used early this year. I picked one which had done 50,000 miles already on the basis that it probably actually worked rather than spent the time in the garage. So far it's been faultless and of course having had one, there's no way back!
