You can access it by crawling up the exhaust pipe and through the engine. Or if you prefer:

Things are never simple are they? I decided to give the trip up the back end a miss (ooh err missus, etc!) and opted to just listen to it, guess what? The LCM may well be behind the footwell trim, but whatever makes the ticking sound is somewhere around the instrument cluster. I think I'll live with it! Drives:
