Had the key in the ignition (not started) and noticed when I was under the bonnet a buzz from the aux coolant pump - can someone tell me if this is normal ? I only ask because I have been having cooking system issues this week? Current stable:

from what i have read here (on the 4.2 at least) this is normal when the ignition is on.

the only thing that might be wrong is if its wired backwards...

i would check mine and tell you but its currently in the boot along with the rest of the engine awaiting parts arrival

Have you been getting restricted performance when booting it over 70 or 80mph?

well - I have recently (last week) had it log converted now its running okish and yes I have been randomly getting that - I thought it was related to the log conversion and am due to takeout back they told me the fuel pressure may not be quite right and can cause it. there was water in the top hose when I took it off and can hear it pumping when I bled the system after a thermostat change... Current stable:

Be sure to check the wiring to make sure it isn't wired backwards (putting LTB00041 into Google will quickly provide a PDF)

Got new pump today but the wm say this about the bleeding

NOTE: With the ignition key turned to position II the charge air coolant pump will run, to aid coolant bleed. Make sure the charge air coolant pump is primed prior to running the pump.

How the hell do you prime the pump? No Info in wm or is it just squeezing the hoses to the pump by hand? Current stable:

start filling the system as normal through the expansion tank, this will help alot.

bot also above the pump by the top of the radiator there is a bleed screw for that system also, the other way is to fill into the supply pipe manually.

What an absolute a hole - thought I’d do this after work tonight but the bolt was seized in took me ages to loosen it from the clamp and took over an hour to move the hose clips with pliers and swan neck as the sheath in the angled pipe kept getting caught. Ended up using grease but the bit still won’t move so looks like a weekend job to finish. Current stable:

Yep, can be a bit fiddly - I assume you took the headlight out to get at it?
