I am pretty used to sorting corrosion as I have had quite a few Defenders over the years, I just have 0 experience with the Rangies. After how much I enjoyed the test drive yesterday I’m considering shifting a few bits and upping the budget to a 5.0 SC. I did like how the 4.2 drove though, the engine certainly suited the vehicle 👍🏼 I’m in no rush and the search is always fun! |

Have a good look around and find a good one. Like Camtech said, I bought an '06 4.2 and it has no rust at all yet. I wax injected that area and repainted a few really minor surface bubbles following a bare metal rub down, so hopefully it'll be solid for a fair few years yet. Slowly working my way through the whole vehicle. -Did all under the rear wheelarches while I was at it. Front brakes to do soon, so the front arches will be next. Wash, rub down if needed, paint with smoothrite, then underseal over the top of that.

Ahh, I’ve had a search and worked out it’s the softer aniline leather without the piping! |

Well I’ve put a deposit on a good one, it’s a 58 plate 4.2 Autobiography in Stornaway grey. I’m off to collect it later this week. It’s got a full comprehensive service history and it’s had the gearbox service so fingers crossed 🤞🏼 |

Thanks for the link Stan 👍🏼 It’s a small world! Looks like it was looked after very well by the previous owner too! Did you have any issues with it? I think since you had it it’s had a new rear calliper a new windscreen and the gearbox has been serviced as well as obvious oil changes etc. It’s spent the last three years in Hyde in Hollingworth. Spec wise very happy, looks a very well equipped ff 😁👌🏼 |
