I've had a 2012/ Jan 13 registered 4.4TDV8 Westminster from a year old/ 4k miles to it now just turning over 102k miles.

So far its been pretty reliable. Main work that's needed doing over and above maintenance/ discs and pads etc has been replacing a crankshaft oil seal that started leaking at 65k miles and split intercooler hoses at about 90k.

Because I love driving it, cant afford a new one, kinda prefer the L322 over the new one anyway - I'd like to keep it going a while yet.

Its been main dealer serviced up to 80k and by my local and reliable independent garage since then. The gas struts and seals along the tailgate glass need replacing which I'll do.

So what preventive maintenance would you think important to do now?

What sort of mileage do you reckon these can do, reliably?

If like me you intend keeping the car long term.... then I fully recommend removing all the plastic covers, ie wheel arch liners, brake pipe covers , outer sills etc. and giving it a good clean with either a power washer or even better, steam cleaning it, then treating all the newly exposed body and chassis metalwork with some waxoyl or better still Dinitrol treatment.

It was the first job I got done on mine when I bought it 5 years ago and it is still like new underneath.
Every year the MOT man comments about how wise it was to get it done.

It is the only job I have actually paid to get done, but is certainly not beyond any competent DIY owner.

Gearbox, gearbox, did I mention the gearbox?

I would suggest pan, filter and flush (not just drain) but ............ that's a whole other argument about to happen ! Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8
