So.. 2004 Full fat 4.4 V8 Vogue with 137k on it and lpg (that may or may not work)

I'll list all of the goodies it has and the bits I need to sort (that i'm aware of) below but all in i've paid £1,300 for this and knew of a couple of faults.

The good bits;
It moves (10m so far)
It is black and has ivory interior
It starts straight away
It has lpg
The rear airbags were replaced 2 years ago
It has a parrot bluetooth kit that actually works so I can stream music (I was going to fit an android unit but that's the last thing i'm doing now)
Rear facelift lights (no awful orange)
The guides and associated bits were replaced 2 years ago (according to a hand written piece of paper describing the car)
It has rear aftermarket screens that as far as I can see are really good picture quality and even came with a dvd (What film is it?)
EVERYTHING inside the car works
It has matching Pirelli tyres all round which pleases me.

The not so good bits;
It has a vanos style noise on idle
The front of the car slams to the floor 5 minutes after turning it off
The cheap before me decided to silicone the cam covers instead of using gaskets
No idea if the lpg system works or even how to use it
The rear boot only opens on the key
Battery light is permanently on (new battery recently 100ah)
Boot looks like what I can only assume the previous owner ran a dog grooming business out of it
Old cars make me feel itchy when they're not chemically cleaned
Rust on N/S/R wheel arch

Plans are;
Take it to my garage so they can plug it in and see what the issue is with the suspension and set about sorting the cam covers out and get it valeted so I don't feel so sick.

Budget is tiny as, I don't really think it's worth spending £1k or whatever on it unless I can guarantee it won't die.

That's actually very tidy Rich.

I would suggest you have a leaky front air bag or both simple fix iv done one of mine. Use a wax wet n dry in the boot as well as all the other carpets give it a deep clean.

The cam cover gaskets need a bit of rtv to help them seal especially at the back it's even in rave or they leak even worse

Oh the vanos rattle pull the vanos solenoid out and clean with brake cleaner several times then refit that should help along with fresh oil n filter.

Lpg my way is 60ppl so that's = to 42 mpg cost wise over petrol

Looks tidy enough & the problems you've listed aren't that bad......I'm sure people on here have had & seen worse.
BMW 4.4 is a gorgeous engine & if the chain/tensioners have been done, she'll be fine.Oil & filter, oil & filter, oil & filter...she'll be fine.
Rocker cover gasket is a simple task.
Vanos, not sure.
Suspension as Dave says is no ball ache.
lpg.......mmmm again not sure, try an leg service first?
I think for what you paid, that's bordering on a bargain basement fatty! 2012 Orkney Grey Westminster 4.4TDV8 with Ivory interior.........nice!

I get 240 miles or there about on £45 of lpg no difference in running or performance if your local swing by with it and il put the scanner on it for you and check your lpg at the same time

Bit far for you to pop in as im se london junction 4 m25 as for the air bags as it goes down on both sides it looks like both are leaking but there is a valve block drivers side behind the inner wheel arch liner mite be worth checking first.

Either way get the soapy water spray out and put it into extended height and give the air bags a good spray you can also try dropping the car to access height each time you get out

This is what it looked like when I got back to work this evening. Guessing the front has hit the bump stops.

It’s actually pretty tidy for £1300! You could just run it into the ground and would be no worse off, but I think it’s worth a punt on a fix or two.
Maybe a squirt of silicone will seal the front suspension bags?

Al straight forward fixes & Not bad for the price, definitely worth spending a few quid on it.

I would get the battery light issue resolved / checked
Could be a dud alternator....

Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember
