HI,

Has anyone experienced problems with the BMW M62 4.4 engine poor starting and found out what the problem is?

My car starts fine, but for the first few seconds in the morning struggles to accelerate. I can move off, but there is no power, the car doesn't want to accelerate and there are some (concerning for the catalytic converters) pops, etc. The more I put the foot down on the accelerator, the worse it seems. It started about a week ago, and seems to be getting worse.

After 30 seconds or so, it all seems to clear, the car accelerates as normal, and the car is fine for the rest of the day.

I run on LPG, but all this is when the car is running on petrol and before it is warm and has had a chance to switch over to LPG.

I'd really appreciate someone letting me know who has had this problem before and found out what the issue is.

I would rule out the LPG before looking at anything else.
Physically isolate the liquid supply either at a valve or unplug the solenoids then run on LPG until it stalls. Run on petrol and see if it solves your problem.
I had a similar problem on a Jeep which was an LPG injector leaking. Trying the above costs nowt and rules out a lot of possible causes.

Dirty MAF/faulty primary fuel pump/idle rev level set too low?

Update:

Yesterday, the problem got worse. I started the car and it ran fine for about 2 minutes then suddenly cut out and would not start again.

Today, I've started working through the options and one of the first things to try was the fuel pressure Schrader valve - and almost no pressure at all.

Fuel pump out and tested and it is not working at all.

I think what has been happening is the fuel pump has been on its way out and finally gave up the ghost yesterday. I still can't work out why the symptoms where poor acceleration to start with then fine for the rest of the day. Current:

The rest of the day its warm thus running on lpg so doesn't use the fuel pump
