Sorry to bring up an old thread and apologies if I'm just being a bit dim here. I've got the paddles and ordered the female to female connector - hopefully the right size. Now before I take everything apart I just want to be clear which two male connectors I'm joining. Is it A to B on the photo below? or is it a different pair? I'm a bit confused as a 20cm cable is suggested but it looks like a shorter cable could be used or is the extra length to route around other components?

Anybody able to help with this please? Trying to identify the location where the cable from the paddles connects to:

'The cable from the paddles connects into the back of the right hand switch gear next to the airbag (a spare socket).'

If you turn your airbag module / steering wheel center over and look at the left hand side (at the back of the call accept and decline buttons) there is a spare socket with 4 pins. It is this socket you plug the cable into and then connect the other end to the blue plug.

The magenta coloured plug is used for another function.

This is how I have wired mine up and the lights come on in the paddles.

Sadly i havent yet been able to get them programmed as i believe my car needs a software update. 3.6 TDV8 2010. Can anyone confirm if this is possible?

Thanks very much that makes sense and when I do mine I'll take a photo and post it here so others can see it. My car is a 5.0sc 2010 so I'll let you know how I get on with it. Do you have a stick or rotary gearshift on yours? I assume it's an LCD dashboard model?

Mines a facelift tft dash model 3.6 tdv8 with the gear stick

Ok will let you know how I get on with mine - not sure if we have the same version gearbox but if it's a stick then it may well be the same ZF 6HP28.

I’m a little unsure on the jumper cable routing but I’m guessing it’ll become clearer when I have the steering wheel apart. My car is a MY10 so will be interesting to see which steering wheel core I have.

Depending on how long your cable is; the most natural way is down over spoke D, then up to the plug. Once you have the airbag off you can study the bottom and see where it fits tightly and where the small gaps are.

My initial attempt I tried routing with the factory wiring but bringing the jumper cable down from the top just gets in the way of the connections on the back of the airbag.

On your MY10 did the A and B spoke have spec to feed the paddle shift cables through to the front of the steering wheel?

I’ve gone with a 20cm/8 inch cable as that seems to be the length most people have mentioned. Will let you know how I get on.

If I understand you correctly:

The shifter wiring starts under each spoke. For a MY02-MY10 wheel run the cabling from under the spoke to the lower side then over the top of each A+B spoke. They have just enough space gap over each spoke that you can slip a thin cable through. If you look at my pics the left shifter connector sits in a little gully kind of at an angle, behind a top airbag post.

The jumper cable slips over the gap of spoke D, then into the wheel.

In hindsight a 30cm cable would better allow a purist to run the jumper with factory cabling around the top of the airbag itself but that is also a tight fit and a bit hard. For ease of plugging the cable in and pure lazyness I used the 20cm. 2012 L322 SC Ipanema Sand

Sorry to jump back onto this old thread, but i've just picked up a 5.0 and would like to add the paddle shifts. It's a 2010.5 model year so i'm hoping its a plug and play job. However, for the moment, i'm trying to put together a hardware list. I've found a couple of paddle shifters on eBay listed for £48 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203740255865) - but i'm waiting to see if that comes with the associated wiring. I see that the OP mentioned getting the paddles and wiring from 'Dan' for £45 + VAT - who is this mysterious figure?

I've found a female to female connector that, going by the pictures, might do the job (https://thepihut.com/products/4-pin-female...F4QAvD_BwE) - but confirmation or alternative suggestions would be appreciated.

I don't have an IID tool but was wondering if anyone around Glasgow might let me use theirs for a fee (if they have a pro license).
