Cologne beets them all, plus if you are driving there, follow the Mosel to Koblenz via Berncastle Keus and Cochem.
Then up the Rhine into Cologne.

Yes will be driving (even though we have BA flight concessions ) Cologne sounds perfect will speak to Mrs T also still have a few flexiplus tickets to use

if you're lucky as we were ,it will snow and make the experience even better.... ... - .- -.

Don’t miss out a visit into the Cathedral, the way they decorate it out with flowers at Christmas time is breathtaking.

Any suggestions on hotels

I have been to Cologne a few times in the distant past but never at Christmas so the Cathedral will definitely be on the list

Sorry I can’t remember Hotel details, but I deliberately picked one off tinternet that was about a mile or so out of the centre on the approach road from Koblenz, but with free parking and only a couple of minutes walk to a metro station, where we got a train into the station directly outside the Cathedral and that worked well for us, and you can keep topped up with Gluewhine to keep warm.

NH Collection Köln Mediapark, spacious underground parking which is a bit expensive ..great cake shop across the pond..

Novotel Köln City, a pleasant walk by the rhine to the Dom passing a xmas market [pirates!]


but there are loads of hotels to choose from .....

you'll also have to apply for a green emissions sticker which costs around £19


edit, cost is about 12 euros apparently... ... - .- -.
