Hi, I have been having suspension problems , The first sign was after I jacked the car up to change the front pads, then realised i had been sent the wrong ones ,so replaced the wheel and left the car. Picked up my mates kids and drove 2km then red warning 30mph max and down on the bump stops.
Had a good read on here of possible causes and started to investigate, I then discovered the NS rear damper was oily and when i tried to raise or lower the car that side stayed the same height.
ordered a replacement damper and fitted it yesterday.
The suspension now goes up and down on all corners but the NS rear is always 5cm difference to the other sides, I went for a test drive and as soon as i got to 40mph the red warning came back on and the suspension went down to the bump stops
Been looking at cable damage to the height sensor ,,,cannot see any.
The compressor is good and raises the car quickly, left the car overnight at off road height and no change in the morning.
So my questions are ...if I put a new sensor on ,,is it just plug and play or does it need to be calibrated??
Do the fault codes need to be cleared before the system will work again properly?
I am at my house on the side of a mountain at least 150km from a LR garage and have not got a code reader, the journey to the LR garage is just to dangerous to attempt at 30mph...so really need to fix the problem before i can leave my village for the journey back to UK at the end of summer.
I am in Bulgaria and parts take around 2 weeks to arrive.
any advice or pointers are much appreciated.

1. What car have you got? Model / Year / etc. (Complete your profile with this)
2. What messages are you getting on the Message Centre? - could be an ABS issue daisy chaining the EAS lowering
3. Do you have the orange lights working for your EAS ?
4. Sounds like a soft fault, so once issue found could resolve itself without diagnostic tool, but you really should get an iiDTool or similar given your location, you will then be your own LR Indie in the mountains !
5. Not sure why jacking up the front would cause an issue at the rear, but it is a Range Rover ! .

my car 2010 TDV8 4.4 vogue adaptive suspension and tow pack.

When I went to collect my mates kids ,I turned round on the track and my NS rear wheel went into a gulley...possibly hung there for a few seconds....but nothing that unusual .

On the 4x4 info screen it comes shows as red line above the wheel on access height and red line below the wheel on off road height.
Sorry if I take time in replying,,the infrastructure here is patchy today after yesterdays storm...it started here in the mountains before it devastated Greece .

I found my rear end on the bumps one morning - cause was a rear height sensor cable chaffed.
IID gave me the sensor error code which pointed me where to inspect, a quick fix and was fine.

So code reader essential as Joe says.

hi, been busy with guests and not a lot of time free.
Got the car on a diagnostics at a garage...pages and pages of faults.He cleared them and couldnt find a problem in the system concerning the supension...got the car on the ramps and the replacement damper was leaking worse than the original one!
The vendor of the replacement damper has refunded the money and all postage costs. Going to buy from elsewhere now.
New faults that showed up and couldnt be cleared

IPC (instrument cluster control module) 1 problem exist
1.U0159-00 Lost communication with parking assist control module Permanent. I pressed the button as I was leaving to go to the garage and my dogs were sending me crazy with the parking sensor noise. Didnt realise i had a problem . No light at button ,no lines on reversing camera now

HCMB(headlamp control module B)1 problem exist
1.U0415-00 Invalid data received from ABS control module Historic

IPMB(image processing module B) 1 problem exist
1.B12C0-31 Left mirror cam Historic It works fine!

AAM(audio amplifier module ) 2 problems exist

Yesterday I started the car for the first time in a week ...it was ticking over and the suspension was sorting itself out then a kind of pop and the drivers side front airbag decided to die. I am now stranded in the village until spare parts arrive.
I know a good damper will fix one problem , a new airbag will fix the other problem....the new codes above are a mystery and any help advice on where to check for loose wiring /plugs etc is much appreciated.

I would focus on the parking sensors and the headlamp faults, the others can probably be ignored if they are not causing any problems.

Parking sensors

Could be the module, could be the sensors, could be the wiring.
You may need to have both bumpers off to check the wiring, but test each sensor first, if you can. One problem can simply shut the whole thing down.

Headlamp

Don't know about that one, not had a FFRR with that on it (as far as I am aware). Any issues with the headlights ? .

Re headlight, from Gap user manual:

"U-type communication fault presence without symptoms is normal"

Unless there are other symptoms you can ignore U faults. John

Hi Joe, The switch for the parking aid on the centre console doesnt light up anymore .When I got home from having the diagnostics i put my car battery on charge overnight in case some faults were caused by a low battery.
It didnt cure anything. I have checked the parking module behind the panel left side of boot . No signs of water damage or damaged plug/cables

Could I have disturbed something when changing the rear shock? Idid look around the area for damage to the damper cable ,but i tried to be careful .

Thought I would update this topic.

Finally fixed my suspension issues, LHR damper and ride height sensor and front offside air spring. all very easy to fit and warning lights cleared immediately without needing to be hooked up to OBD

the next issues of the ABS and Parking module communication took a little bit longer to find the problems.

Friday 13th, my days work was to continue cutting and chopping up firewood for the winter , started the chainsaw ,let it tick over to warm up ,, picked it up, went to rev it and the throttle fell on the floor. !

Got in my car to take the chainsaw to be fixed and just out of the village , red triangle restricted performance and yellow engine warning came up on the dash, my swearing just got louder and in 2 languages!

Arrived at the Husky shop to be told the throttle is part of the carb assembly ,cannot fix it ,so a complete unit. If we are lucky there will be one in Sofia,if not it has to come from Sweden and will take around a month. Kind of getting used t waiting for spare parts to arrive all summer, parcel tracking is taking over from Netfix as my evening entertainment !
Luckily the part was found in Sofia and I should get my chainsaw back Wednesday next week.

Cautiously started my car to head back to my village (5km) and the red triangle had gone but the yellow engine light was still there. Came home and logged on here to try understand my problem.
Generally the verdict is either a fuelling /intake issue, so using Ninos methodology....if there is a sensor i will clean it!

Took the engine cover off to access the 2 sensors at the front and on top of the engine and to clean the ones on the air intakes. All were a bit dirty except the one on the manifold which was covered in thick black oily soot. Sprayed with contact cleaner and refitted .
This is the point where i did heed the warnings about the brittle water pipe connector but still managed to tickle it whilst removing a pipe and coolant went everywhere!
Found a great tip online (not on here) on how to fix the connector using the stent method....it works great!

Whilst I had the bonnet up i stared and stared around the engine bay looking for any loose plugs ,leaks etc
Thought while i am here to look for the oil leak problem at the rear of the engine, as i was removing the pollen filter panel i noticed that he 2 drain hoses either side of the windscreen were not attached! Must of been the windscreen fitter that replaced my screen last year, so all water from screen is either going onto the battery or the ABS on the other side.

Took the plug off the ABS and cleaned with contact cleaner ,it didnt look bad ,refitted it and started my car.

Engine warning light light had gone out , I then went for a spirited drive up the mountain pass and all was good , no warnings ,no restricted performance , the first time in 4 months i could go above 50kmh!!

Got home and checked the oil level....it said add 1.5l ! I have only done 3500 miles since i changed the oil before leaving the UK in April. I then remembered I do have the oil leak at the rear of the engine!


During the down time whilst waitng for parts to arrive I took both bumpers off and checked all the wiring to the sensors ,all looked fine

So this morning I took my car to the garage to get all my codes cleared and see if they could find the PDC problem.
The garage cleared all the codes except the PDC ...he said it must be a bad wire somewhere and to take it to the main dealers in Sofia.

I thought i would recheck the wiring to the module in the boot before i booked my car in at Sofia .
All looked good tugged on the connectors ,they were firmly in ....then thought lets have a look inside the PDC box.

It was very easy to pop the circuit board out with a flat screwdriver and this is what i found

So I think I am on the home run, just need to find the correct unit to replace
mine says AH42-15K866-BG. Is it OK to drive around without the module plugged in?
Would it be fine to source a used unit rather than new?
I dont want to spend too much as i have to come back to UK for the MOT next month which could be another major headache.

Well done!

Worth trying a good scrub and clean with contact cleaner and a toothbrush on the PCB, worked wonders on my SatNav DVD unit  .

I did try to clean it, but the contact cleaner spray blew one of the cylinder things completely off the circuit board !!
