The easiest to convert are the 2002-2005 BMW M62 cars - though they are a lot less than £15k now.

All the 2006-2009 cars use the Jaguar engine, which can be converted, but need the extra oil feed system. The supercharged engines need extra fuel delivery pipes to keep up with the demand, though that's not a huge issue.

After that, most of the cars are diesel, and I'm not sure about the 5.0..

The most important issue is choose a good system and a good installer - the set-up is as critical as anything else. Best systems are Prins or BRC. Budget £2K-£2.2k for a decent system, payback is about 16,000 miles, then watch the savings mount up. I reckon to have saved nearly £10k in fuel over the past 8 years. Current:

Just buy an all ready converted l322 4.4 cheap as chips. You still can drive them in london unless they have been registerd as bi fuel before 2014 mine wasnt so isnt ulez compliant as tfl refuse to accept alternative fuels.

Even the new electric black cabs have a petrol engine running 24/7 to keep there batteries topped up as there is only x1 charging point for them

I've heard the 5.0 engines are difficult to convert due to the piezo injectors and that they fire multiple times per cycle. I don't know the details, but was thinking about converting a jag with the same engine and the was told it wasn't financially viable. __

So a 2002 4.4 maybe? Circa 150,00 miles for £2,800

A Trap 

Do you do enough miles and intend to keep the car long enough to make the system payback and then make savings of a suitable amount in value to make it worth while?

The diesel FF’s are good value and return go fuel economy for their size and performance

My LPG L322 has all the official certification and was registered as duel fuel in 2010, i pay the reduced VED, and it was allowed into the congestion zone without any charge but that benefit was removed when they got rid of the western congestion zone.
TFL do not recognise my vehicles as being ULEz compliant .

is that true, that it is outrageous. what is the point of electric drive then ?

You will notice during cold and wet days that all the electric cabs are steamed up or have the windows open. They are all freezing as they dare not turn the heating or ac on otherwise they are flat in a couple of hours and are running on petrol. 2011 4.4tdv8 Vogue

Yep x1 charging point in london for the new lean green black taxi machines so they all just run the small petrol engine generator in the boot to keep the batteries charged up. Their not meant to leave them running when parked up waiting for fares but they all do.

Any ways the air in london and every where will be better for no planes
