Just to check something - Halfords are recommending a stop/start AGM battery for my car when I enter my reg on their site

That's weird from my reg Halfords suggested completely the wrong battery.

The one you have found is correct  Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8
Previous: -
2004 FFRR Vogue 4.4 V8 with LPG
1997 P38 4.0 SE with LPG
1997 P38 4.6 Vogue with LPG

I bought a Yuasa HSB 019/YBX5019 Silver 5000 from Halfords as it was what their system came up with for the car. Seeing threads on here questioning its suitability I decided to contact Yuasa directly to see if they were happy to warrant the application. Received the following back from their Tech man which suggests not, and armed with this, Halfords have said that they will swap it out for me in due course. Hope this helps.

My sincere apologies for the oversight on this. We've looked at OE sources and the vehicle takes 2 options based on equipment level. The AGM option is a Yuasa YBX9019 (Halfords 019AGM) and the flooded option is a larger YBX5020 battery (Halfords HSB020). We will be updating our data to reflect this. Halfords will be informed of the catalogue change in due course.

I expect that continued use of this 019 battery will lead to early failure, so I'd suggest returning to the store to request a refund and supply of the 019AGM type.

Tugger to be sure call Monarch in Glasgow, they know their RR stuff and will tell you exactly what battery, I'm afraid Halfords are not in such a well versed position.....

Just tried my registration on Halfords website and they correctly identify it as a TDV8 Vogue SE, but then list the Yuasa 019 and don't even mention that an AGM is available.

I also tried Advanced Battery Supplies, who list 019 flooded and AGM as suitable and Tayna, who list only the flooded 019 and not AGM.

My car currently has an Exide Premium 017, which the previous owner must have fitted, as it doesn't look that old, but I get the Low Battery Please Start Engine warning all the time. I guess I need to change it, as the 017 is definitely the wrong battery even without the argument between flooded and AGM. 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE

I see that Tayna will deliver the battery to you and put you in touch with a local fitter who will fit it for £15 - a bargain when you see how awkward it is in the L322! 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE

It's not all that hard to fit, I did it myself the other day. Just need an extra pair of hands at the start and the end to support the bonnet while you lock it into the fully open position and then unlock it again when you're done.

Then you just need a socket set with 10mm and 13mm - for some reason the -ve and +ve terminals use different sizes. And then a small ladder or sturdy box to stand on while you lift the battery out.

All in took less than an hour, and at least half of that was waiting after disconnecting the -ve for the system to fully power down 09 RR Westminster 3.6TDV8 - Stornoway Grey / Black interior - now gone (sad face)
