Can you hear a fan operating when the cooler box is switched on (with the switch illuminated)? There is a fan that cools the Peltier device which provides the cooling to the box, without this fan operating the cooling ability will be much reduced.
A Peltier device produces a temperature differential across itself when an electrical current is passed through it.
From 2018, the cooler box may be a true refrigerator or just a cooler box, depending on vehicle build specification.

Methinks that 2020 revised price list now shows two options for cooler box and refrigerator but haven't fully investigated the difference. However probably made by Lucas and as you know the reason that the English drink warm beer is because they keep it in Lucas refrigerators.

Right, thermometer came today quick test says it’s OK - my temperature was 37.1c and the fridge was about 10c with ambient being 23.4c so it’s in the cubby now with 4 cans of diet coke and a couple of Capri orange juice drinks to give me a nice starting point for tomorrow’s test. Interestingly the cubby is about 28c at the moment but the car has been parked in the sunshine all day. Geoff

Well it ain’t working, thermometer proved it, box was steady at 24c that’s 4c above ambient . The green light on the switch came on momentarily but in the main has been off. I guess it’s time to start checking fuses.  Geoff
