Sounds like fuel issue to me.

Turbo or inlet would have caused dash to report errors.

Turbo or EGR failure would cause rough running poss smoke

I swear there's something in the air round your neck of the woods. Twice mine has done something similar on the stretch of motorway between the border and Glasgow. Although mine had the full bingo card of errors, HDC failure, suspension lowering etc. But both times in that same place.

Could it have run out of fuel? Or maybe it thinks it has and cuts the engine? Dodgy fuel sender?

Yep was exactly that πŸ‘ the TDV8 lives another day , think sender is dodgey as it said 50 or 60 miles range when I was half way through my 12 mile commute to work , garage went out and put 25 litres in bled system and drove it back , still has that bloody annoying whistle though πŸ˜‚

When you say Technical bulletin , does that mean take it to main dealer and they fix or does that mean there is a how to on here that doesn’t involve my eyeballs being removed from my head At the garage πŸ˜‚
