I think many disco3 & 4 (and older range rover sport) owners would like locking wheel nuts on their spares as they go walks all the time (and cost to replace is often the cost of the wheel, tyre and new winch). Current: RR L322 2010

Yes slightly different on the Discos and I ended up buying a heavy steel disc thing (uncle Ray on the D3 forum) to prevent theft of spare when i had D3s. But on the FullFat spare is safe but just wondered how safe are the other 4 corners?

the FF is a big heavy car to jack up...many owners have problems so the opportunist thief will probably not have the equipment ..

As Dr Rob - locking nuts replaced with standard, tyre suppliers recommended this as they see too many lock nuts seized and they are apparently a real hassle to remove if that happens. Over tightening can be a problem too. Agreed also that you need to watch for swelling, if it happens the standard socket won't fit. On my 322 the nuts were replaced under warranty due to swelling. Found a swollen one last night after this post prompted me. I only checked them 6 months ago. Hydrocele is prevalent!! Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

I think I'll leave them now, given they seemed fine for the tyre change yesterday and having invested a chunk of cash for the new Pirelli Scorpion Zero all season option, I'd hate for some light fingered little to remove them too easily. I'm hoping that tyres are done for a while now! RR Vogue TDV8 Grey/Black

Did you also have a 4 wheel laser alignment done with suspension fixed into tight tolerance mode using a plug in?

Hmm Dr Rob, I had 4 wheel alignment done, not sure about the later part. I've a decent run coming up next week, so was going to see how she felt at motorway speeds and some poor tracks etc.

Without locking the suspension it will simply fight itself when they adjust the rods etc.

Get one from Dan at Duckworths for £405. Dont buy direct off GAP. Second hand ones hold their value and you could be waiting ages. Sell it on if you move away from LR cars and get most of it back. It will pay for itself many times over! I use mine to lock suspension when garage iPad with IID has run out of battery Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"
