Module swapping?

Hi all trying to do a little diagnostics to work out why my illuminations are not working in the dark.

The problem in in my 2007 supercharged vogue se. Can I swap the light module and switch out of my 2002 vogue or will this not work/break something? As I say not permanent just a test.

Failing that could I do the same with the general module which does the windows etc? Current stable:
2006 BMW M6
2007 4.2 V8 S/C FF
Gone:
2002 4.4 V8 FF

None of them? I know you can put a later lcm (with auto lights) into older car but it needs coding for mileage etc Current stable:
2006 BMW M6
2007 4.2 V8 S/C FF
Gone:
2002 4.4 V8 FF
