14 year old MINI Cooper S with 8k on the clock.....

We have had a few of the original R53 BMW Minis supercharged Cooper S, and currently have the later turbo R56 Cooper S. I think this is our 6th.

I have found an 05 plate, 1 owner, full service history R53 Cooper S with 8k miles on the clock at a good price which I fancy as a keeper to tinker with. It looks immaculate but then they all do don't they Rolling with laughter

I havent seen it yet as it's 180 miles away, so it's a day there and back, but am I asking for trouble at that mileage on a 14 year old car which I can only assume has just been sat around most of its life ?? Current: FF Westminster money pit

Wow - we have an 05 Cooper S convertible and I thought that was doing well at 50k miles.

I wouldn’t worry about it, they seem pretty bullet proof - just accept that it’s probably had lots of short journeys so engine a little more worn than 8k might suggest.

What’s the service history ?

Full service history, on the dot, annually.

Our current R56 Cooper S is a 60 plate with 22k on the clock....always fancied an R53 keeper though. Current: FF Westminster money pit

Blimey, it does look in good nick.

Even 8k is misleading on mileage, it's only done 3k in the last 10 years! Shocked

I agree it looks a belter, but I have decided against it. I am going to spend some £££ on ours instead. Current: FF Westminster money pit

My brother in law has an 04 plate john cooper s works. Complete Censored , big miles, warning lights on, has a really nice set of split rims that look utterly shagged, never been washed in years. But what a fabulous thing to drive , great noise too. Nagged him for years about letting me buy it, I could waste loads of pocket money on it but he just doesn't care. Think hell eventually scrap it as it will be too far gone sadly.

We’re on to our second JCW, kept the first for 8 years got the latest iteration a year ago. Its Mrs S’s daily driver but I get to hoon around at weekends. Love the noise they make and the lairiness.

That's the one. I thought the price ok ish given that is a museum piece, but it's a bit poverty spec compared to our R56 and SWMBO is happy for me to tinker with ours instead Very Happy Current: FF Westminster money pit
