License plate lamp error and no light but bulbs are good

Wondering if anybody else has run into this before I go tracing the wiring loom looking for damage. Confused

Instrument cluster shows license plate lamp error, and indeed there's nothing when the lights are turned on. But the bulbs are both fine when taken out and tested and there doesn't seem to be a dedicated fuse, and all other lights are fine.

Am I missing something obvious? Rolling Eyes 2008 SC L322

Are the bulb holders in good condition, ie are the bulbs making a good contact?
No fuses, the circuits are protected by mosfets in the ecu.

Actually, I think I may just be an idiot. The bulbs I was looking at and checking due to their proximity to the license plate are apparently backup lights only, and the license plate lights shine down from the bottom edge of the upper tailgate, and indeed they are bad. (Only noticed because they also should come on as courtesy lights when the upper gate is opened.)

Ah well, hopefully this will help somebody else, or at least provide amusement! Laughing 2008 SC L322

backup lights

you mean reversing lights ?

I don't remember the number plate lights coming on when you open the tailgate, there are lights inside the upper tailgate that do come on.... .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink
