Hi. Last week I was driving when the dashboard lit up and started to bong. ABS, Brake, traction control all orange and flashing headlamp symbol.
Its permanent, no luck stopping and starting to remove it.

I took it to my local Indy who plugged it in and after 5 minutes reading and deleting codes the problem persisted. Then he found there was no reading from the front left speed sensor. I booked it in and he changed the front left sensor (Passenger side in the UK)

It didn't cure it. He checked again and took it for a drive with live date and no signal from that wheel. He mentioned the ring may be damaged but he checked and could not see anything ans recons it may be a break in the wiring. I paid him and took it away as he could not help from there.

This brings me to hours of googling to get wiring diagrams to see where this cable goes and its the ABS ECU

I have had a look in the engine bay and there are 2 ECU's in the big box on the drivers side, without disturbing the mass of wires can someone confirm if one of these is the ABS ECU?

Also any other pointers to would help.

As I type this I thought that he has changed the passenger side sensor, could the machine have meant the drivers side? Is the left and right always meant from the drivers perspective?

From what I can see the ABS ecu is on the back of the ABS pump, it’s often referred to as the ABS module.

Here’s a link to an example on eBay, I know it says a later model to yours but they were all in the same place.

Make sure he fitted the correct wheel speed sensor, the spec changes on years and models of cars, easy to buy the wrong one and be chasing your tail for no real reason.

The job took an extra day because his supplier sent an incorrect one first. I presume a wrong one wont fit at all or are the differences subtle? I did think about trying to get another just in case, its not unheard for new items to be faulty.

they list them to cover from 2002-2012 so would they not all be the same?

Maybe when they sent the wrong one they sent a rear one instead. I will have to call him in the morning to check.

I had same issue, fitted incorrect sensor, problem remained, sent to well known independent who told me needed new abs module for 2.5k iirc.
Further investigation was wrong sensor fitted as ebay suppliers either a don't know or b don't gaf.
The resistance on the sensors change over models and engines.
Look up the right part number for yours and buy the exact part number, you can always check resistance of the other front against the one you bought to compare

Get an iid tool it'll pay for itself.
