Quite a few mechanics do take these covers off (all types of engine) as they are simply a cosmetic/sound deadening piece -

How does one remove the engine cover on the 4.2 SC? Mine seems to be held in at the back? 2006MY 4.2 SC

Got up early to try and find a vacuum leak so thought id get the covers off and drive to the petrol station to get easy start. A little disappointing not sure the volume I was expecting there’s definitely a little more supercharger whine but not a massive amount. Also my temp gauch just got to the middle and I could still touch the super charger so doesn’t look nuts. I’ll leave off for a bit and make my decision Current stable:

Don’t forget though these engine/powertrains are designed and tested to destruction with everything attached, as an integral piece of machinery, not sure how these mechanics have tested the air flow/heat exchange? David Please let me know if my comments upset you, I may wish to upset you again. |
