Rear Vents - Temperature control not working?

I was sat in the back of mine yesterday and noticed that the temperature control on the rear vents doesn't seem to do anything. Whatever position it was in, the air coming out was freezing cold.

Is it true that the maximum temperature of the air from these vents is limited by the settings in the front? If so, I can't quite work out the point of having a temperature control in the rear at all. The front temperatures were set to 22, with the separate vent temperature control set in the middle.

Does anyone know what the rear control actually does? Does it mix air somehow?

Are the rear vents fed from the central vents in the front?

I suppose I should be grateful it works at all! 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

I'm trying to remember back, but certainly on the newer models, there's an option on the front screen to lock the rear controls so the kids can't mess with them.

The button on the panel with what looks like the rear of the vehicle with arrows coming out of it controls the rear air con on or off. John

Thanks, I assumed that button just switched the rear air on or off? Or does it disable the controls? The blower speed control seemed to operate, although it only seemed to change the noise level as far as I could tell!

I'm curious now as to how the temperature control would work. 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

Good question. I believe it disables the controls. John

I’ve noticed the same with mine, and the temp dial don’t change anything, it’s like the flap mixer don’t move.

Thanks for the manual extract mjdronfield. I suppose I could have looked myself!

It doesn't really clear it up though. The statement "Until the blower is activated, airflow is delivered at the same temperature as set by the front climate control' doesn't really help as it doesn't mention how to activate the blower - mine seems to be on all the time anyway?

I recall my mother in law complaining that it was cold in the back when I gave her a lift to the airport in the winter and the front settings were all on warm but didn't think much about it then. 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

Got complaints myself today saying the feet area is blowing cold. That's the rear floor vent(s) for rear passengers under the front seats.

I leave my front controls on auto temp, but manual vent - with the vent on floor only.

Does the floor button activate the rear floor vents?

Or are the floor vents controlled by the rear passenger controls?
(Which I find a bit hit or miss)

. Cheers, Greg

Both my l322’s have been iffy on back heat had a 2006 4.2sc and now the 2011 5.0sc both have minds of there own in terms of rear heat control.
