Morning all, had my RE a week and noticed a slight smell of burning oil. Located a few puffs of smoke from the back of the engine coming up and out of the bonnet when engine warm. It had been serviced just before collection. It’s under warranty so the garage are expecting me but I was wondering what it might be so I have an idea ? Could it be spilt oil ? Is this where the oil filter is and is it a cartridge type ? Kind regards in advance

The oil filter sits on the top of your engine towards the back of the engine or near your firewall bulkhead it sits under the black plastic engine cover . The filter sits inside a filter housing. If you just had your car serviced they probably spilt some oil down the back of your engine.

The oil filter housing sits on the engine oil cooler and these leak for a past time! There is also an oil pipe fitted to the rear of the cooler which has two oil seals that fail often... Both of these can be found here by searching sir...👍

Most of the threads you'll need are probably under L322 TDV8 which is the same engine

This picture of a new engine shows the oil filter and cooler clearly, plus the green arrow I have added points to the connection where the leaking O rings pipe fits.
