Hello all, my first post here after months of lurking. The L322 has finally defeated me.

First of all, the dreaded airbag light/battery disconnect unit following a dead battery, then the battery drain that caused it (I replaced the final stage resistor as prime suspect), now the thing won't start.

The battery was dead for a couple of weeks. I changed the FSR and put in an uprated battery. Now the car will turn over - rather quicker than it used to - but not start.

Reading this forum and others suggests a possible immobiliser fault (or secondary fuel pump). I want to rule out the immobiliser fault first though, and duly ordered the code, which never arrived (unavailable apparently). There is a radio code and EKA code written down in the car's paperwork, although I didn't think these things had radio codes, and the EKA code is 6 or 7 digits, which also seems odd.

The manual mentions the "extended immobiliser code" which can be entered/reset via the touchscreen/audio/satnav system, saying further information can be found in either the ICE manual or satnav manual. Neither makes any mention of it, which is frustrating, and I am now stuck.

I've tried the key in driver's door method, but no joy.

Suggestions??

Why not check the fuel pump first, it's two bolts under the passenger side rear. Turn the key to II and get under to see if it's running, should be fairly obvious. Easy to rule out and the work of about 2 minutes.

I hear you, but if the vehicle is immobilised surely I’m wasting my time?

I'd thought at position II everything came on as normal with an immobiliser issue, but then wouldn't turn over, but I could quite easily be talking rubbish, I'm sure someone will be able to confirm. Obviously if the pump won't run in II you would be wasting your time, but if lights etc are coming on, it may be worth a couple of minutes to check

I can hear "something", but to be honest I've no idea what a working secondary fuel pump is supposed to sound like...

Any ideas on the EKA/immobiliser, or what's supposed to be in the manual but isn't?

Afraid not mate, hopefully someone else can help on the immobiliser issue.

On the pump, if you can hear it going then I'd rule it out. When mine was dead, it was dead. Working it should sound like a pump quietly whirring away, so I'd guess it's back to the immobilser. GL

Just had the cover off the remote fuel pump, gave it a whack, engine started first pop. Never thought that agricultural diesel would sound like music to my ears!

Ordering a replacement pump now.

Glad it was something easy. I limped mine on for a few months by just carrying a rubber mallet in my boot and giving it a whack when it played up. Really shouldn't have bothered as it was such an easy swap

Was going to say: immobilizer on won't crank the engine and tell you so in the cluster info display.

What the hell's with those stupid hose clips?? Unfortunately my eyesight is such that they're too close to my face for me to be able to see how they work...

Glad you sorted it - thought it was going to be similar to an issue I had a little while back, as your opening scenario is the same - Ill continue anyway for benefit of others. Possibly I caused my issue by disconnecting the battery too quickly after turning ignition off...

Anyway with good battery, cranking well, non starter, code reader told me P1308(?? from memory) was the imobiliser out of sync with BCU. I was in Netherlands, so only hope was a tow to main dealer to plug in T4 to re-sync. They wanted to replace the fuel pump, as that seems to be diagnostic route land rover takes them - I persisted and they did the re-sync and all was good started on the button. Seeing as they had it for a week, and I walked away with just a 75 euro bill I considered my self fortunate.
