P0016 and P0026 Error Codes

Good Evening Forum

Whilst driving along this evening i had a rough running event and error codes, P0016 Crankshaft Position Sensor Camshaft Position sensor correlation bank sensor A and P0026 Intake valve control solenoid circuit range / performance Bank 1

The vehicle is an L322 2006 with a 4.4 AJ series engine

I cleared the codes and the car then ran fine , no repeat of the codes on the 45 minute trip back home.

Any ideas, anything to worry about, or is the vehicle just loosing the plot with age like it owner ?

Any advice would be appreciated

Many thanks

Ok an update

Had a fiddle around, the values for the valve advancement for bank 1 were the same as bank 2 at idle , give it a good rev and the values for both banks move up as expected, take your foot off the gas and the values for bank 1 stay high and don't fall as bank 2 does.

Disconnected the Solenoid for Bank 1 and of course the values stay at Zero , error code P0016 does not re appear (obviously error code for solenoid though)

Conclusion

Sticking Solenoid for Bank 1 not allowing the cam to go back to normal value causing the error of the mismatch between cam and crank sensor if you follow my logic

Now has anyone changed one of these of a 4.4 AJ Jag engine ?

Cheers

Update

Variable valve solenoid replaced , this cleared the Error code for the Solenoid, not a terribly hard job as it was the cam cover on the side that is not covered by all the AirCon Pipes.

Contacts cleaned on both Camshaft sensors

All error codes gone and runs sweet as a nut again.

On Obtaining the solenoid, LR Part was over £659 with the VAT, Jaguar was £152 and they are exactly the same part.

BUT the item is made by Gates Corp, which are an OEM for a lot of fluid power , hoses and belts believe it or not , so purchased via rockauto.com in the US for £43.09 ($53.79) and it arrived in 4 days !

I like a job that goes well, even better when it is a dam sight cheaper that expected, which lets face it is not very often with a FFRR Rolling with laughter
