Question about brakes

Hi all

So my 2005 TD6 Vogue has front brake callipers with twin pistons. They are in fairly poor condition so I have been looking at replacing them.

It appears that the most common calliper only has a single piston. Are mine an upgrade of some sort or would it have left the factory with twin piston callipers?

Would the way ahead be to remove them and send them somewhere for cleaning and refurbishment or is it simpler and cheaper just to replace?

Jim

2005 was a change over from BMW parts to Ford parts.
The calipers went from ATE to TRW. ATE is single piston TRW is dual piston.

advanced factors site lays out model years and vin umber to be sure you get the right parts.

rebuild is cheap and simple to do yourself but if you dont want to get too dirty replacement is always very straightforward.
how much is your time worth?
