On the L405 what are the options for it? To be honest I haven’t looked under there but I’m assuming because it hasn’t got a deployable tow bar there’s no cheap way like the detachable ones on the older Range Rover?

Yes & no - there is a detachable tow bar, but even that's not a cheap option

I had the option of either speccing an electric tow bar from the factory on mine, or fitting the LR detachable (which is actually a receiver hitch). Fitted when new, the price is the same, but the receiver hitch is much more versatile.

It is possible to buy the receiver hitch direct from the OEM manufacturer for a usefully less. I put notes on that on the second link that Alastair has helpfully provided (above).

I purchased a complete, second hand, guaranteed unit... Works perfectly the twice I've needed it

Sh*t !! So it’s pretty involved and costly. I just wondered if it might be the case of buying a detachable tow bar and slotting it in.

Pretty much everything related to the L405 is “involved and costly “! Certainly there are no plug in tow bars. Mind you, that’s probably no bad thing!

Seems to be plenty of second hand deployable tow bars on eBay for the sport or discovery but none for the L405.

I’ve just got a removable tow bar from the dealers for £760.
For this you get the tow bar and fitting bracket. The electrics and two replacement plastic covers for the bumper.

Fitting instructions seem straight forwards so will probably fit mine next week. 2008 RRS HST - loved the car from 6 months old until a few years old
