CarPlay headunit in <MY2005

Hi all just to let you know I followed haylands wiki and got an eonon android unit with the generic CarPlay adapter and I’m very impressed with the CarPlay the headunit is good too but steering controls I’m trying to work out :


 Current stable:
2006 BMW M6
2007 4.2 V8 S/C FF

2002 4.4 V8 FF

Also heads up I wasn’t getting any sound and it turns out the remote wire only outputs 5v which is not man enough for the amp to power up so I used the 12v ignition live from the big plug instead and all is well. I also did a custom loader

I know it’s possible but replacing the head unit, amp and doing a complete stereo retire is to much. Just wish for a plug and play head until or cheap mirroring/control module for a android /iPhone apps.

I'd like an android head unit in my 2002 RR, but seems a minefield on a car with DSP . Add in someone clueless like myself needs true plug & play, and installers don't seem to want to know.

Agreed you get the ibus app for the android headunit and the resler interface and you basically get intravee functionality as well like lighting effected door locks steering all works.

For the 05+ though you don’t need to ditch the amp now you can get a most converter for £99 which converts the rca output to most for the stock amp but I haven’t seen any info about keeping rse so you will prob lose that Current stable:

OK, that would seem to have solved a large chunk of the problems for a clean install, but as you've mentioned, the odd problem can still occur to leave you with no sound, or the but I'd have no clue on how to resolve.
It's a shame Eonon ,Xtrons haven't developed a true plug and play for the electonically useless.
