4.4 TDV8 - Cold engine idle speed in hot climate.

Hi all,

Just took the car out to run an errand and upon start up the revs rose to 1k and stayed there for quite some time, very noticeable when pulling away, kinda felt like the car had its choke open and was chomping at the bit to run away.

Outside temp gauge read 41 degrees at 4 pm and its a very warm day, probs the hottest so far this year.

Does the 4.4 TDV8 run at higher engine revs at initial startup to assist with AC/Engine cooling? It did it settle down eventually after a 5 min drive. The cooling fan was certainly engaged and more audible than normal with the windows down.

Any one here with 4.4 in a hot climate who can advise?

Thanks. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster - Baltic Blue, Jet interior

United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Baltic Blue

I’ve noticed that mine runs a bit faster for a few miles if the battery is a bit discharged., but it soon sorts itself out and returns to 650-700 rpm tickover .
Of course it’s very much cooler here than Alicante. Rolling with laughter

Normally mine is perfect, I just wonder if the heat of the environment it's in plays a part. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster - Baltic Blue, Jet interior
