Every time I see my car from the rear my eyes are drawn to the back box which is multi coloured and looks awful.

Is it suppose to be silver or black lol?

Maybe I should paint it.

wonder where the black has come from then as im guessing it was origionally silver??

May matt black it then , wonder if i could spray it without getting overspray elsewhere on the car Regards

No, they left the factory painted Matt black, but it burns off over time, revealing the stainless steel. G reg 2.5VM Vogue Portofino red 1991- 1999

On our old one I simply gave it a good washing and then sprayed it with black VHT exhaust paint. It stayed perfect for the next 3 years until we sold it. Took all of half hour.

Did you worry about overspray on the outside of the car?? Or do you not think that’s a worry Regards

No, not at all - just used some cardboard to box off the sides before spraying just incase.

you can do what I did,

I used the same method as Nino, get the paint easy enough from b and q

Unnecessary quote removed

You didn’t paint it buddy? I think painted makes it look more hidden. Regards

Well got out after work and painted the rear box up.

Makes a massive difference.

Made myself a cardboard sparky booth and then used some all purpose degreaser and a light rub with green scotch right and then finished with a wipe down of ipa.

Then sprayed her with some Matt black vht paint. Only thing is because of my cardboard spray booth fitting so well I couldn’t get to the side of the tail pipes lol. So I’ll have to grab another can tomorrow and finish it off. But here’s some pics
