I think that the cars insurance company ends up footing the bill for all this, including the police recovery. Interestingly, the police miss an opportunity to catch the villains red-handed! |

Looks to me like the recovery bloke might have unintentionally alerted the crooks by hanging around too close waiting for the police to show up the first time. Perhaps if he'd hung back a bit they'd have got the car back with a lot less damage. If I was the owner and I saw this I'd be pretty annoyed at the recovery bloke's amateur tactics.
