Hi people , just a quick question I'm hoping someone can give me some good advice on .
My car is a 2012 4.4 Tdv8 , 102k up .

The car seams to have what can only be described as a very slight "flutter" noise when accelerating in all gears.
The gearbox has been serviced with a new filter and the correct z8 oil. This noise has always been there (before gearbox oil service) and also after. It may not be anything to do with the gearbox........I'm only surmising !

It does seem to be coming from under the car......below the rotary gear knob/ tunnel I would say . Possible prop shaft issue ?

Any thoughts ?

Hi Richard,

I looked at these links with interest........I'm fairly confident its not turbo or turbo pipe related (That's given it the kiss of death!! ) . You can hear this noise when on the throttle, let off, noise disappears .......when the engine is under load at mostly low ish rpm , say 1500-2500 .

Could a bearing in the prop shafts make this strange flutter noise ?? I'm fairly sure its from underneath the floor pan somewhere .

I'm expecting a large bill .....

I'd arranged to take the senior financial officer (SWMBO) away for a couple of days. Even got to enjoy it

May be missing posts on here, but prop shaft on 11MY seems to be reliable, but I'll have another search. From memory, when my old prop shaft bearings gave up it was noticable as a vibratiuuuuun rather than flutter, (old being a while ago car I owned). That was why I suggested hoses etc.

If DMRR reads this, can you let us know what the noise was like and what fix was done on the tyres? Cheers

It was hard to describe but sounded like induction noise. Solution was to get rid of the previous owners crap tyre choice and replaced with Cooper Zeons. Land Rover Addict
