So having blanked off the EGR's, the recommendation is to map out the electrical side of the valves.

I suspect our car has already been remapped although not very well. Under load I get a loud diesel rattle whereas on tickover on the drive revving it up it sounds like a petrol. Speaking to the chaps at EGR Delete, they say it could be a poor remap where all that has been done is the timing being advanced. The rattle I hear would be the equivalent to pinking on a petrol.

The MPG isn't great either so this also points to a poor remap.

My question is- can a remapper tell me if it's already been mapped prior to loading any new maps? I'd be interested to know.

Based on your location I would recommend you get Bodsy (Ian Bodsworth) round to look at it. He's a mobile guy out of Telford way and knows his onions He is also an authorised Bell Auto Services remap guy (BAS and Alive are the only 2 remap options recommended for Land Rovers)....
He'll be able to assess any current maps, remap it properly and blank off EGRs in the map.
He also does gearbox megaflushes. Highly recommended as a preventative
