Found a couple of codes stored in the Transfer case control module that look rather suspicious;

P2789-00 Clutch adaptive learning at its limit
P186D-00 Clutch actuator is stuck

Looking like the Transfer case is the problem...

That is the diff lock you get on them all.

The centre diff locks, then the other traction control is dealt with via electronicals and brakes. The optional diff lock is on the rear axle, which is an actual locking diff but it’s not common on the tdv8 but was standard on the SC. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Those faults do point to a problem in thetransfer case, there arent many spare parts for these mostly seals. There are normally a few knocking about on eBay. If you want a good read RRPhil did a teardown a while back on here. Shows how they together.

Thanks, that is indeed a good read. Also leads me to think the problem is software.

Also changed the front brake pads, as I wasn't particularly impressed. Found what looked like cheap pads, replaced with Delphi and already better.

Re-balanced the front wheels while they were off as they had hammer-on lead weights on the front face. Why people allow that on alloy wheels is beyond me.

Finally, I fitted the EGR blanking plates referenced in Henda's thread here.

Car now driving lovely, aside from a bit of tyre scrubbing which I should get a look at tomorrow.

Did you manage to get the transfercase fault sorted?
I have the same message within 5 min after startup and does not come back after clearing till the next drive. Not been able to find much information about it.
