From memory as long as you can access enough of it with pliers to actuate the bonnet release, swapping wasn't a big deal.

Thanks both of you. I've ordered what I think is the correct part number FPF500040, although it does state its for vehicles upto 2009 and mine is a 2011. However I cannot find an alternative anywhere and it looks the same!! |

Just so everyone knows there is a difference between 2002-09 L322 and 2010-12 L322 bonnet release cables. The former has a rubber boot with a metal clip (right pain that) surround, whereas the latter does not. A bit of grinding later and you can make the older part fit the later car. Feeding the cable through with a bit of string did not work but just pushing the new cable through the bulkhead from the drivers footwell was pretty straightforward. |
