Rear Wheel Arch corner rust!

Morning All!

A year or so ago I noticed some bubbling of the paintwork on the rear edge/corner of my NS rear wheel arch. It's slowly got worse and yesterday got back to my car that had been out in the wind and rain to find the paint had flaked off exposing the unsightly mess in the pic below. It's hopefully just surface rust, if you give it a good prod it's solid. Fingers crossed, but I confess I don't have any prior experience of rust repairs.

I've recently spent a fortune on maintenance on my Fatty so a proper bodyshop repair will have to wait 3/4months. In the mean time I'd like to prevent it from getting worse and also tidy it up so it's not so unsightly.

Any advice is much appreciated. Is it a case of rubbing it down as much as possible and then treating it with a anti corrosion solution and applying some paint?

you can get rust converters that should stop it getting worse but you may need to expose a lot more of the surface under the paint to get all of it.

I'd probably put a light smear of grease over it to keep it at bay for a month or 2 Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

This was mentioned in another thread recently and I said I didn’t know of anywhere that sold repair panels. Has anyone found any in the past. These seem to be more and more common as a problem area, this and the sill.

I have the same thing, You can be pretty sure that needs welding. I hoped it was just surface rust, but when I started to sandblast the area there was lots of pinholes through the body.

Repair panels would be a good thing. 2006 Supercharged

I had only small bubbles visible on paint and it was like lace underneath. Shocked
