Air suspension 'bag'

Hi folks, the front nearside air suspension bag has started to leak air on my 56 TD6. The front n/s strut will drop completely to the bump stop in about 3hrs.
Are there any real issues or problems if I choose to just replace the bag?
Thanks in advance for any advice given. Travelling around in circles again.

I did that at first, but the garage couldn't get the bag on the struth without leaking. Could easily be the skills of the French, but I finally replaced the whole thing. That they could.

Thanks Robert. They were my thoughts exactly about just replacing the bag. Travelling around in circles again.

Change the whole thing, and do both at the same time. Really easy job

I second the above, do both sides & replace shock and air spring. The shock will also be at end of life.

Buy a known brand like Delphi or from reliable suppliers like Island 4x4, Duckworths etc

Do it once, with the right part and it will last another 10+ years. ______________________________

@Nin, aerosus, poor quality, very thin material, but gave a refund after I send it back. . If you look at the inside of the airbag it is nothing compared with delphi or The ones from Island

Replaced both front complete strut assemblies on my 2003 TD6 before Christmas with Delphi units from Island4x4. Think they were about £250 ish each

I replaced just the bag with a delphi unit from Island 4x4, only reason i did this was that the other bag wasnt replaced that long ago by the dealer.

Best job is to do both struts and bags together much easier.

That said if you have to do just the bag take your time and get all of the orange and black rings seated properly before refitting, with a thin tool gently pushing them fully up into the recess of the new air bag I thought they would just compress themselves and seal but they dont and you will fine your taking it all apart again.

and make sure your current strut is spotlessly clean and no rust.

Oh and drop the wheel to the ground but not taking full weight and charge them back up before you lower the car fully.

You may also need a IID tool or the like to reset the air suspension if its gone inactive?
