Couple of newbie questions

Hi all, new member here, please forgive me if I'm breaking any forum rules here.

Picking up my gorgeous new (to me) L322, (and my very first Rangie) next Saturday, and luckily immediately get to drive it 450-odd miles from Kent home to Glasgow Very Happy all of which I am massively excited about

Anyway, my questions, and I've had a look on the forum already but cant find the answers.

1. Can anyone recommend a decent auto electrician around Glasgow? I've bought a GPS tracker and I need it hard-wired in by someone who knows what they're doing. I want it wired to the ignition as it is rechargeable so doesn't need a constant feed, just a recharge when the engine is running. I'm not at all confident of doing electrics myself and don't want to break my lovely new car!

2. It's a 2009 Westminster 3.6TDV8. If anyone has one of these, could they confirm if there's an iPod socket in the centre console or not. Asked the dealer to check but not sure he got what I was looking for. I'm looking at getting a Bovee 1000 if there's a suitable connection.

That's it for now. I'll post some photos next week in the appropriate sub-forum Smile

I don’t think the iPod connection came in until the 2010 facelift model, but I’m sure someone with a 2009 car will be able to advise for definite.

....and welcome to the forum.

I have a 2009 though not a Westminster. No ipod socket in mine. I fitted the audio kit and now have ipod integration. Ipod lives in the glove compartment. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Wetminsters were the run out model and have 4.4 engines. If its a 2009 3.6 TDV8, its either a Vogue, Vogue SE or Autobiography. I had a 2010 VSE which did have an ipod connection; the old style one, not the lightening connector. There is also a usb port in the centre cubby.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have a link or any other info on the audio kit? Sounds like what I'm after!

Before you take the plunge just be aware it's far from perfect. You cannot select albums, you have to put everything into playlists. You can have a maximum of 5 at any one time.

If you have a lot of music it's not a great experience though it is integrated with display, steering wheel controls etc.

There may be better ways these days! 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Thanks for the info - sounds like quite a faff in that case. I think I'll stick to my FM transmitter / bluetooth thingy, that way I can just play music from my phone with minimal hassle.

Bought one of these to stream music from my phone and answer calls through the standard head unit, much better than fitting a new head unit and tearing the dash apart.
Plugged it in and set the radio frequency and it works a treat, good clear sound, charge’s the phone and and now have hands free calling.
Really pleased with it.
