2010 Autobiography surround cameras

Evening chaps. I'm on my 4th ffrr now and my new toy is a 2010 4.4 tdv8 Autobiography. It's got surround cameras fitted but there's no soft button on the screen to access them. Prior to picking it up last week it had the camera module replaced due to a fault with the rear camera. It's been coded to the car buy my local dealer but still no soft button. Question is can this function be turned on? Dealer says no, but I'm wondering if the Gap iid tool would do it? I've emailed them and they said ask on here!

Well that's a first!

Interesting question as I looked around at possibly doing a retrofit

Do you know if the replaced modules like for like? If they didn't that would explain the issue you're having -- in fact if you rummage around underneath the drivers seat (IIRC) and find lots of loose Fakra conectors that will tell you they didn't probably! Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

As far as I'm aware they did fit the correct part. The rear camera works for about 10 seconds then turns off and camera system fault comes up. I'm going to try and contact the previous owner to see if they had any problems with it. To be fair to the dealer i bought it from he has tried to sort it buy fitting the module, a new rear camera and paid for the dealer to code it.

I suspect bad fitting, bad module, or a gremlin deeper within the electrics, especially since rear camera is not working. Sounds like expensive diagnostics needed...

How do you know you've got them fitted?

. Cheers, Greg

Because you can see them. And they are part of blind spot monitoring. Also build spec states surround camera system. It's as if it's been deleted from the media screen

The module for single camera and surround cameras are different are you sure they didn't fit the single module? Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I've got the box from the one they fitted. I think I'll double check the part number tomorrow just incase. Can't see any loose plugs hanging around though

My initial thought when I saw this was that they've fitted the wrong module. But do the non-surround camera equipped cars even have a camera module?

I'm not sure what the IID tool makes of this system - I've not looked at mine in any detail yet. I don't think that it's a particularly common option though so there isn't much information available about it.

Generally a fault with any particular camera will just leave the window for that camera blue with a crossed out camera symbol showing on it - the rest of the cameras should still be shown. That implies to me that the fault is more likely with the module.

Do you know if it has ever worked? I think you said somewhere that they replaced the module because the rear camera stopped working. Do you know if the other cameras were working at that time?

I love the way the main dealer has just washed their hands of it! 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

The odd thing is that there's no option to select the cameras at all. I'm going to try and contact the previous owner and ask him if there was a problem or if they even worked as mentioned. They definitely fitted a new part so unless that's also faulty the only thing i can think of is that is not been reprogrammed correctly

I’m sorry but I have little experience with the camera systems but I will say this... I have had to replace quite a few single camera’s that have failed, front side and rear... The other thing I have found on my 405 inadvertently was this, when I took the front bumper off, I fitted the two cameras the wrong way around! So, the left side in the right side and visa versa, even though they are the same cameras L&R! Same part number! And the complete system shut down! NO response from the soft button or engaging reverse gear!

Don’t ask me why Whistle
