Quite right. I have been unlucky but I do like the SDV8.

Have been driving the TDV6 RRS as a loan car. It’s s great car:
- but miss the comfort of my FF
- TDV6 is a great engine but very similar fuel consumption. Reality is I drive it harder and get no better fuel consumption
- provided you don’t mind the additional upfront cost go for the SDV8 every time

But, my man maths is thinking about a “more reliable” 5.0 supercharged or SVA as my SDV8 is coming out of 3 years manufacturers warranty in Dec this year would be a good option. Or maybe waiting for the new RR in 2020/2021... Current: L460 Autobiography D350 2023, Defender D240 HSE 2020, Defender 110 Adventure 2015, Defender 90 XS 2012, Lightweight Ser III 1975, Aston Martin DBS Manual 2008

Still waiting on the dealer to speak to their "interiors man". I would find it helpful if as many of you as possible PM me with a photo of your own seats (2018 facelift onward cars only) so I can make a comparison with mine regarding the wrinkles around the shoulder seam areas. I've seen a lot on websites where the leather is nice and smooth, and I'm starting to wonder whether mine are not as well made as they should be...

Today, four weeks after my car broke down, I was told my engine had been replaced and tested. I went to pick it up.

After less than 5 miles of driving, there was a very loud bang. Like a big back fire. It was followed by loss of power and a red triangle engine management warning sign. I pulled over. The service engineer, to his credit, came out with the loan vehicle I had just returned and organised recovery of my car back to the dealer. I had visions of having to use Land Rover Assist all over again....

The technician was very apologetic, said it should have been thoroughly tested, and thought it was a turbo hose that has come off.

Anyway. Back in the loan car for a fifth week...

Since I bought my vehicle, I have driven 70,000 miles, in 3 years and 1 month. 29,000 of which have been in loan vehicles. Possibly some sort of record!!?? Current: L460 Autobiography D350 2023, Defender D240 HSE 2020, Defender 110 Adventure 2015, Defender 90 XS 2012, Lightweight Ser III 1975, Aston Martin DBS Manual 2008

Yes, thanks very much Chalky - I've got to go in to the dealer for a safety recall, so it's a good excuse to have a go about the tear. I don't mind paying for a repair if they feel it is outside warranty, I just want it sorting...
