510bhp vs 550bhp - worth the extra?

So if I went down the SC route for a L405....would it make much difference or whats a better engine (cos I am useless in that space) between the 2 engines?

Personally my L405 standard AB supercharged has so much power that I never get to use it, so I can not see the advantage of paying the premium, unless you intend track days regularly!

Thats about an 8% increase , whats the cost difference ? As an example my 4.4 tdv8 remap took it from 313hp to 375hp , an increase of 19% and cost under 300 euro. I presume the 550 version has other additions over the 510 variant so that would have to be factored in. 2015 4.4 AB

@CUE99T:

The increase in BHP in isolation is pretty meaningless, it’s the torque and power delivery that important. Do you know what the peak torque figures are and what RPM they’re produced at?

Isn't it just a replacement engine ? I didn't;t think the two were available at the same time ?

So it's newer vs older car with the engine just being one off many small improvements

So I take it we are talking of pre 2018 MY as the new variants produce 525bhp and 565bhp but its not just the engine that is different its the overall vehicle with the Autobiography offering 525bhp and the Autobiography Dynamic offering 565bhp?

The cost difference is not just the engine as the trim in the Dynamic version offer's almost everything as std where as the Autobiography is well equipped it has a host of extras that can be added at a cost Thumbs Up

Hope this helps but probably not lol "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" ----is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" -----------is how far you take the fence with you.

You really cannot compare the two. The SVA is so much better on every level. Even better still...it works out cheaper on a PCP than a well specified 5.0 AB.

Cost is maybe about 10k looking at some models.....

Not massively fussed about a brand new model car, the 2017 cars would do me tbh iof they are specced well.

Some are as around 75k maybe.....think most SVA's are around 90-100 for a 2017 car and 145 for new models. all smug in my new plug!

I am loving my 67 plate one. I had to pay a bit more, 106k with a px 5k above wbac (in line with mileage adjusted parkers guide that you can pay for). But it was the colour I wanted, black with the ebony cirrus, 8k miles and had the rear screens and deployable steps and no body kit

Since then there are a handful of new models that have come through. As to whether you notice the extra power I would doubt it tho I have never driven the 5.0 ab. But the handling on the sva is astounding, and the ride is better than my 65 plate sdv8 se that i p/x'd. That was a surprise. Both are on 22" wheels

Also the sva gets some nice attention from people who know what it is and the exhaust note is lovely.

I'm considering adding the SVO exhaust to my newly purchased 65 plate S/C AB model to get that nicer sound, anyone know if its just rear boxes that gives the noise or do I need centre section too?

Chatting to Dan @ Duckworth he mentioned selling to a few members but I cant see anything on the subject.

Thanks

Carl

Trading my MY18 SC soon. No other reason than getting a company car (iPace, which is great BTW). I'll take a massive hit as it's only 12 months old, but I'm trying not to think about that. I'll invest the cash in a VCT, so with man maths it's not that bad. I've also bought a new Jimny for when the weather is bad and the dogs need to move about, which is comedic.

Anyway loved the SC, driven in S with Dynamic mode it's a great drive. Far too fast for its bulk, but handles it well. The only criticism would be the exhaust note is a bit tame. The engine is barely audible on tick over, so some bark from the back would be nice. 'S' could do with being a bit more aggressive.

Hopefully I'll be back in the full fat club once they do a full electric version. That would be my ideal car as the iPace is has a very refined drive train.

Mines 525, latest shape. The 'dynamic' driving mode is new to MY18 too I believe. Dunno what it does, but it works.
