United Kingdom 2018 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV6 Corris Grey
Going from a 2015 FFRR to a MY18 Vogue SE

Hi all,

I have owned RR's for the good part of 14 years, starting with the first gen RRS. It has been a love-hate relationship, especially with my current RR AB 3.0 TDV6. I have owned it from 6 months old and has been in for endless faults including an engine replacement last year.

I have just put a deposit down on a 2018 RR Vogue SE in Corris Grey. I was wondering other than the obvious addition of displays, touch pads, etc. What are the other noticeable differences ?

As a sidenote, it has the colour coded fins and side trims. I would like to change these to the atlas finish like my current RR.
Does anyone know where I can obtain these from ?

Also are their any suggestions as to what route I should take with purchasing and installing deploy-able sidesteps. I do not mind travelling.

Thanks a bunch guys.

Ateeq

I would suggest talking to the dealer for the parts you want. I'd have done it just prior to signing on the dotted line personally but it sounds a bit late for that. They would normally do a deal on "extras" at the point of sale rather than afterwards.
I haven't seen any aftermarket stuff I'd want to nail on my FF tbh.

Thanks Huwrhys for the response and advice Thumbs Up

I should have done that. You are right, I do not see them giving me anymore leeway now that the deal is done, I guess there wont be any harm in now trying.

The Atlas finish is £915 or so from new.

In theory, the other differences on a VSE vs your 15 AB over and above infotainment are these:
* Wider seats with controls on door card
* Frameless rear view mirror
* No winged headrests - you have to pay £1265 for those (includes massage front seats)
* Thicker door glass... 6mm! Laminated.
* Steering wheel button graphics are hidden until lit. Hmmph.
* Matrix LED headlights mean you don't need to fiddle with them to work on the continent, they automatically prevent dazzling oncoming traffic
* 3 zone climate instead of 4 zone
* No timed climate / remote fuel burning park heat, except via the InControl app which will start the engine remotely
* No surround cameras... £760 or buy the £3.5k drive pro pack
* Fixed roof, not sliding (I think AB sliding was standard in 2015?)
* No fog lamps, they're £150
* Inferior carpet mats... premium mats are £200 or more
* Inferior dash top leather (is it actually leather on a VSE?) and limited stitching.
* Same facia and door card leather, but facia will have very little (maybe no) stitching compared to your AB.

Enjoy! Thumbs Up

ilard, thank you very much my friend for the detailed response Bow down

My RR AB has a fixed panoramic roof; I don’t think the sliding roof was a cost option.

I didn’t really make use of the massage seats. But the auxiliary heating was a brilliant feature.

I am a little concerned as to whether I will regret opting for the VSE, over the AB. Obviously the AB is a better car, but at the time, i couldn’t justify the approx 10k difference in price I found. But the value on my car seemed to be dropping drastically, so didn’t really want to risk it and wait around for the prices to drop.

The VSE is well regarded as the sweet spot in the range.

The Vogue is the ultra sensible option, of course. If you see a Vogue badge you think there is someone who would rather spend the extras on holidays/charity/horses.

But most "need" the basics in life like soft close doors, better hifi and semi-aniline leather climate seats found on the VSE. Someone who needs cool buttocks whilst listening to good music.

AB is a delightful extravagance, not very good value but obviously worth it for some in terms of toys and feel good factor (or those with OCD who cannot live without stitching on the dash).

I forgot to mention the suede cloth headlining... the VSE has regular poverty headlining.

Appreciate the response ilard Bow down

Just another question, does the RR SE come with adaptive cruise control as standard ?

Thanks again,

Ateeq

No Adaptive Cruise control.

I have a 2018 VSE in BRG and that colour was £3.75k but included the surround cameras. The dealer threw in full sized spare, rubber mats and fog lights.

The extras on the AB I wouldn't have used, but one thing I should have spec'd was the aux remote heat (I had it on my last cars), ok you can start the process with the app, but it only heats the interior, doesn't demist door mirrors etc.

VSE is a great choice Thumbs Up All LR cars from 1984

Thanks Chalky Thumbs Up BRG is truely a stunning colour Very Happy

I pick up my VSE next week, I have learnt a lot from the detailed responses provided by the helpful forum members. I am experiencing mixed emotions, but more on the excited and hopeful side.

I’ll be sure to post my views on it, in comparison to my current MY15 RR AB.
